Project Scope
Replace the underground portion of eight existing lines which consist of approximately 2200 feet of underground portions and bring those above ground in a series of pipe rack structures. The replacement sections will cross a railroad, a state road and a flood control levee. GRP|WEGMAN’s scope of work associated with this project is the ModuleFabrication, with specifically centering around the mechanical scope. This scope included making over (400) welds and installing the piping within steel structures prior to shipment.
GRP|WEGMAN fabricated 600 tons of piping in five months for a new solar/power plan in Arizona in the summer of 2012. GRP|WEGMAN competed against non-union companies for the project. Crucial pipe fabrication production expectations of 700 weld inches per day. Welds ranged from 2” standard wall pipe to 48” extra heavy wall pipe to schedule 120 pipe nearly 2” thick.
